Sales Approach
The current trend in the jewelry industry is to train sales staff to give
the customer just enough information to enable the sales person to close the
sale. If you can't close the sale, turn the customer over to another sales
person who can. Do you see what is missing from this picture? It's you
the customer. We believe that purchasing a piece of jewelry should be
a pleasurable experience, not a traumatic one. We are of the opinion that
it is the sales persons job to guide you through your purchasing decision,
assisting you with any information or advice you may find useful or insightful.
In the end, however, it should be your decision. After all, who else knows
you, your lifestyle, and therefore your jewelry needs, better than yourself?
Non-Commission
Staff
Our staff might be the only one in the county not working on commission-based
salaries. Result? You are assisted by someone whose sole motivation is
for you to be pleased with your purchase. Since our staff has nothing
to gain by directing toward one piece or another, they are able to keep
YOUR best interest first in their mind. We want our staff motivated to
gain you as a customer, not to gain a commission. The only high pressure
you'll find at Gaines Jewelry is the pressure we put on ourselves to make
your shopping experience a delightful one!
Products Built
To Last
You shouldn't have to be a gemologist or metal expert to purchase
a piece of jewelry. Jewelry is however, an item of which most people have
relatively little knowledge. The fact is there are vast differences in
quality of product and workmanship of jewelry on the market today. Some
jewelry is built to sell (look good under the bright lights) while other
jewelry is built to last and give years of enjoyment. What you won't find
at Gaines are hollow rope chains, tennis bracelets too lightweight to
hold up, or stones set so poorly that gravity are their best friends.
What you will find are comfort fit wedding bands, blue sapphires that are blue
(not black), rubies that are red (not pink) and diamonds that don't just
shine, but have a fire and brilliance you can be proud of. We know that
if we expect our customers to last, we have to offer them a product that
will last as well.

Pricing
There is hardly anything in the world that some
man can't make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider
price only are this man's lawful prey. John Ruskin 1819-1900
We are not the cheapest jewelry store in town because we
don't sell the cheapest jewelry. However, comparing apples to apples,
we consider ourselves the best value in the area. At Gaines, we prefer
not to deceive you by marking our merchandise with an inflated regular
price and then telling you we'll sell it to you for half of that price.
Daily we gain customers who have made purchases in other stores at what
they were told was a sale price, only to find our everyday price on similar
merchandise to be less. Our philosophy is that if your jeweler will be
deceptive about price, what else might he deceive you about? Being an
independent jeweler, we have the ability to pick and choose merchandise
from literally thousands of vendors. This gives us the luxury of finding
the best values and most unique product in the country. Shop us and compare.
We think you'll find, apples to apples, you'll get more for your money
at Gaines.
Service
Treat people right and they will beat a path
to your door.
These words have been our trademark at Gaines Jewelers since
our opening in 1963. Much in this world has changed, but these words still
guide every aspect of the way we do business. At Gaines, offering quality
merchandise, at a good value, backed by a level of service and knowledge
second to none, is not just an advertising claim. It's our standard.
